Ann Reid, Church Choir

Anne Reid, a Mount Pleasant native, recently joined the Saint James Episcopal Church choir as an alto. With a rich background in vocal music, Anne studied voice privately for seven years and has performed in various ensembles for about fifteen years.

After a decade-long hiatus from group singing, Anne was drawn to Saint James by its beautiful campus and the opportunity to once again be part of a vocal ensemble. She finds fulfillment in the way voices blend together, likening it to pieces fitting perfectly in a puzzle.

Anne's musical tastes lean towards the emotive and haunting. She enjoys "schmaltzy" pieces and works by composers like Ola Gjeilo and Paul Mealor. Her current favorite with the Saint James choir is "Where Once There Lay Dragons" by Kenton Coe.

Outside of singing, Anne combines her love for music and visual arts through her hobby of photographing performing arts and artists. Her musical journey, from Fauré's Requiem in her youth to her current explorations of mysterious, haunting sounds, reflects her deep appreciation for the power of vocal music.
